April Alignment

In my April newsletter, I talk about alignment. What it means, how to tell if you're in alignment with your values, and we briefly talk about how to audit your level of alignment. To live in alignment takes some serious and vulnerable work. You have to admit to yourself the things that truly matter versus the things that you say matter because that's what you think should matter.

In what way(s) do you feel out of alignment?

Let's explore the areas you feel misaligned and work to determine the root cause and ways we can realign.

Step 1: Rate the following areas on a scale from 1-10 - 1 being not feeling at all like yourself and 10 being where you are unapologetically yourself. Or put another way, the things that drain you or give you energy.

Energy

Relationships

Work/Purpose

Health

Personal Time

Emotional Wellbeing

Self-Trust

Step 2. Narrow down your values to 5-7 that are most important to you at this point in your life.

Do you have alignment between your values and the areas you rated the highest?

Step 3. Imagine 2 scenarios:

1.) You continue life exactly as is.

2.) You make one change that honors one of the core values.

Did either of these scenarios feel more expansive for you? My guess is making a change that honors your true core values feels far more energizing.

Step 4. Pick one small action that would make your life more aligned. Start really small - overcommitting can be too overwhelming and backfire. Here are a few examples:

-Ask for help

-Say no to something you don't want to do - and remember, "no", is a full sentence. You do not need to explain yourself!

-Schedule movement. If you have limited time, can you make a meeting on your calendar.a walking phone meeting?

-Schedule twenty minutes alone.

Step 4. Make a commitment to yourself. Complete this sentence. "This week, I choose alignment by _______________." Write it down and put it somewhere you will see it regularly.
